Birthday party

Today was one of my friends Rajpreet Sodhi's birthday. He is one of my good friend, my classmate and my colleague in the same company. We used to call him Finance minister or prime minister coz he is Mr. Bond in finance.
In weekend, I used to go with my friends to have some fun, but today there was no plan because tomorrow is our finance exam, going to be quite tough. But when sodhi said for cake party, I was the first person to get ready because, party and fun is first priority, in my case.
In the evening after the boring strategic mgmt class, we few friends sanjiv, sujoy, nidhi and I went with him to have a cake party. We went to upper crust. There we celebrate his cake party and then we had some gol guppe.
Since we have our exam tomorrow, we come back early, but we had a nice evening with him. We really enjoyed his birthday party. May god bless him long life and prosperity.

Trip to Botanical Garden

19 Mar '06, I went to Botanical garden with my friends to see great banyan tree. Since last few weeks we were planning to visit Botanical garden, finally we made it. Let me tell you something about Botanical garden and its grat banyan tree.

Indian Botanical Garden, originally found in 1786 along the west bank of Hoogly, containing about 12,000 living plants and over two and half million dried out plant specimens in the herbarium collected from all over the world, is the largest of its kind in India. Originally founded by Colonel Kyd, this was the place where the world-renowned varieties of Assam and Darjeeling tea were first developed. The 200-year-old banyan tree is the main attraction of this garden. Col. Alexander Kyd of the East India Company developed it for the collection of plants, indigenous to the country and for the introduction and acclimatization of plants from foreign parts. Trees of the rare kinds, from Nepal, Brazil, Penang, Java and Sumatra can be found here. There are towering mahogany trees, an avenue of Cuban Palms and an Orchid House. Stately casuarinas abound with creepers clinging to their tall trunks. There are towering Mahogany trees, an avenue of Cuban Palms and an Orchid House. Mango and Tamarind trees shade the grassy lawns. They stretch for over a km along the riverfront and occupy 109 hectares. The gardens were originally founded in 1786. It was from these gardens that the tea now grown in Assam and Darjeeling was first developed. The gardens’ prime attraction is the old banyan tree, claimed to have the second largest canopy in the world. It covers an area of ground nearly 400m in circumference and continues to flourish despite having its central trunk removed in 1925 because of fungus damage. The palm house in the center of the gardens is also well worth a visit. Other notable botanical specimens are the double coconut tree from Sicily, the branching palm tree from Brazil, the multicoloured bamboo trees, the mad tree, various cacti and orchids. There is a huge lake, with a large variety of aquatic plants, including the rare Victoria Amazonica. The Gardens are also a popular picnic spot.

I'm sharing few pics here, which was taken near the great banyan tree.

The world is in my hand!!!

Best class at AIM

Today the 06 Mar 2006 is a memorable day for me at AIM…..cause today I attended the best class so far. Being a finance student and the class was a marketing one, though I now wish kaash...it were my course, or the faculty would be for our electives.
The professor is a high fundo guy from the best college in India, is a very prosperous businessman, traveled probably the most of the world, but when he delivers his lectures its so good, you get so involved that time just flies by, the experience which he shares is so hilariously amazing, so simple in essence yet they convey so much so easily………
He cites various examples regarding branding and cultures. He said in Japan, people never say 'NO' to you, they never refuse to anything. They always say 'Yes', even if they have to say No. He said the word 'Yes' has 3 meanings to them viz. Interest, Refuse and Confusion. Interesting...hai na....
Do wish the other profs. could also take a hint from him and improve upon their lectures by making them livelier, rather that just boring us with monotonous stuff, or keep on bragging about their visits abroad, or further still, demoralizing us as soon as they enter the class……
